What is the educational background of Dr. Ireland?


Dr. Ireland completed a Master’s Degree (M.S.) in Epidemiology and an NIH Research Fellowship at Boston University’s School of Public Health in 2008 and then worked at Fenway Health while serving on clinical faculty at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Ireland started working for the San Francisco Dept of Public Health in 2014 and has worked in private practice since 2015.

What are the achievements and associations of Dr. Ireland?


Dr. Ireland began her health career in the 1980s as a bodyworker practicing Rolfing and other hands-on therapies. She entered the New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1993 and completed both her Family Medicine Board Certification and the Institute for Functional Medicine’s intensive training in 2000. She then worked in HIV care using integrative and nutritional approaches in addition to cutting-edge medications.

Dr. Ireland’s advanced medical practice of Functional Medicine and Osteopathy looks for root causes of diseases and dysfunction based on each patient’s unique physiology, structure, personal history, and genetic make-up. This approach extends and complements standard Primary Care and single system medical specialties such as gastroenterology, endocrinology, gynecology, and orthopedics.

Functional Medicine includes scientifically validated specialized testing and treatments for biochemical and hormonal imbalances and optimization of nutritional status. Osteopathy addresses each person’s unique body structure and functional issues to optimize function and wellbeing.

What is Dr. Ireland’s Care Philosophy?


Dr. Ireland’s services are for personalized evaluations and treatment for problems that have not been resolved with standard medical care. Problems Dr. Ireland commonly treats include but are not limited to:

• Mid-life complaints of fatigue, weight gain, decreased libido, poor sleep.
• PMS
• GI complaints persisting after a GI workup fail to produce answers.
• Chronic pain following injuries
• Post-concussion syndrome
• Post-COVID symptoms

Services include in-person physical exams and osteopathic manipulation treatments, Zoom/video or phone visits for history taking, lab orders, and follow-up.

All patients must have a primary care provider of record before consulting Dr. Ireland and plan to pay at the time of service. Dr. Ireland does not accept insurance and cannot accept patients on Medicare.
