What is Secret™ PRO CO2 Laser Resurfacing?

A treatment that utilizes CO2 laser energy to reduce sun damage, improve skin texture, and promote collagen production to reduce the appearance of scars and crepey skin. The procedure is designed to deliver safe, effective, fractional skin resurfacing by treating multiple skin layers at the same time with precision and control. This single treatment provides long-lasting results customized to address your needs. 

Who is a candidate?

Secret™ PRO CO2 Laser Resurfacing is safe and effective on patients with fair to medium skin tones.

What are the contraindications?

  • Pregnancy

  • Cardiac pacemakers or implantable medical devices

  • Undergoing treatments for skin cancer or having a history of cancer


How should I prepare for treatment?

  • Do not wear makeup on the day of treatment

  • Excess hair may need to be shaved. Men should shave within 24-48 hrs of treatment

  • Avoid direct, prolonged (more than 20 min) sun exposure, including tanning beds, sprays and lotions, etc; using SPF 30 or higher daily, for 4 weeks prior to treatment

  • Discontinue use of exfoliants and topicals with active ingredients such as: anti-aging and anti-acne products including Retin A, Tretinoin, acids and hydroquinone 3 days prior to treatment

  • If you have a history of cold sores, consider beginning prophylactic treatment with Valtrex or similar antiviral no later than the day before treatment.

What should I expect during and after treatment? 

  • A numbing cream will be provided to ensure patient comfort. 

  • During the treatment, your provider will move the laser over the treatment area to create thousands of superficial microscopic perforations while leaving the surrounding tissue untouched. This has a warm, static-y sensation. As the perforations heal, new cells appear, leaving your skin with a healthier and refreshed appearance.

  • The procedure typically lasts 15 to 30 minutes.

  • Immediately after the treatment, your skin will be red, feel hot as if you have a sunburn, and very sensitive to touch. 

  • The next day, you may be swollen, and you will notice a pattern forming over the treatment area from the microscopic perforations that will begin to scab and slough off over the next week. 

  • The exfoliation process typically lasts 5-7 days.


What are the aftercare instructions?

  • Do not wash your face for at least 6-8 hours post-treatment 

  • Wash and pat dry the skin gently twice day until the crusting naturally exfoliates/sloughs off 

  • Apply a mild/non-fragrant moisturizing cream to the treatment area twice a day for 2 weeks or until the area is fully healed

  • A visible fine scab or crusting will develop 3 to 5 days after your treatment. Do not remove it forcibly or scratch it 

  • Apply sunblock every 3 to 4 hours for a minimum of 2 weeks to a month after your procedure to help prevent UV-induced pigmentation

  • Avoid skin products with active ingredients for 7-10 days after treatment

  • Avoid sauna and aggressive exercises for 1-2 weeks 

  • Optional to keep your skin cool and moisturized by spraying with cold water during the healing process

  • Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water  

  • Notify clinic of any concerns (blistering, excessive redness/swelling)

When will I see results?

  • Most patients see significant improvement after just 1 treatment. 

  • After the exfoliation process is complete, you will see immediate improvements in your skin’s appearance, which will progressively improve over the next 3-6 months as new collagen is produced.
